About the event

Join Drawn to the Sea artist and author Richard J. King at Ships of the Sea Maritime Museum in Savannah for a special presentation exploring the catastrophic 1838 boiler explosion and sinking of the luxury steamship Pulaski.
King will discuss the history behind his Drawn to the Sea comic, which brings the story of the Pulaski disaster to life through sequential art, as well as his broader work as an author, illustrator, and maritime historian. He will also share insights from his five other books about the ocean and his column on marine life for Sea History magazine.
This program is presented in partnership with Georgia Southern University’s History Department and College of Arts and Humanities through funding from a Jack N. and Addie D. Averitt Foundation Grant.
