SUPPER AT SEA - TIMA
Artist Biography

Tybee Island Maritime Academy (TIMA) is Georgia’s only school dedicated to fostering high academic achievement through a maritime-focused, project-based curriculum. Our innovative approach combines STEAM principles with real-world maritime careers, offering students hands-on learning experiences. The curriculum is student-centered, drawing inspiration from the local maritime industry, history, and the natural environment of Tybee Island and the greater Savannah area.
For Supper at Sea, TIMA students collaborated with renowned fiber artist Katherine Sandoz to create a breathtaking coral reef weaving. This project seamlessly merged creativity, craftsmanship, and maritime heritage, with students learning intricate sailor knots and weaving techniques.
The final piece reflects their dedication and artistic talent, and it is now featured in the auction at the Ships of the Sea Museum, celebrating both the students’ work and the rich maritime history of the community.
